The National Organization of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) 

 

Founded in 1919, BAP is a renowned national scholastic and professional honor society for Financial Information students and professionals; specifically, graduate and undergraduate Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems majors. There are over 300 chapters on college and university campuses with over 300,000 members initiated since BAP's formation.

 

The emblem of BAP denotes that promise o careers for financial information professionals. The rising sun signifies these professional positions as rising even higher among economic activities. The crossed keys symbolize knowledge as a means of opening the doors of the financial world. The letters Beta, Alpha, and Psi donate scholarship, social responsibility, and practicality, respectively.

 

The primary objective of the organization is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes:

- promoting the study and practice for accounting, finance and information systems,

- providing opportunities for self-development, service, and association among members and practicing professionals,

- and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

 

Students' perspective of the Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems fields are broadened through lecture series and office visits.

NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:


To be eligible for National Membership in BAP, students must meet the following requirements:
1. Majoring, concentrating, or have stated interest in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems;
2. Have completed the BAP-Candidate Application and paid the $150 fee payable to Beta Alpha Psi in the semester you applied for candidacy; and
3. Have Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or above at time of induction; 
4. Have fulfilled the 12-hours Community Service requirement in the semester you apply

INDUCTION CEREMONY:


Once students have met all requirements, they will be eligible for induction as National Members at the end of the Spring semester of the year. Each candidates’ hours and their academic standing will be considered.
